Racer Placers in Wisconsin is Verified by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries

March 23, 2012 (Madison, WI) – The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), the only globally recognized organization providing standards for identifying legitimate animal sanctuaries, awarded Verified status to Racer Placers, Inc., December 15, 2011.

Verification means that Racer Placers meets the criteria of a true equine sanctuary/rescue and is providing humane and responsible care of the animals. To be awarded Verified status, an organization must meet GFAS’s rigorous and peer-reviewed animal care standards which are confirmed by a site visit and they must also adhere to a demanding set of ethical and operational principles.

“We are very happy to announce the recent verification of Racer Placers, Inc. This rescue focuses on Standardbred race horses, giving those who are no longer winning on the track the opportunity to have a second career and a new life”, explained Jeannine Alexander, Deputy Director-Equine of GFAS. “They have an excellent retraining and rehoming program that allows them to match horses and families based on their abilities and needs,” she continued.

Weenonha Bratsett, Founder & President, responded to the news that Racer Placers had been Verified by saying, “Racer Placers is delighted to learn that we have been awarded Verification status by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries! This is an important milestone, as it identifies Racer Placers as a well- run humane equine welfare organization.”
